MSFS 2024 · Default A320neo · Windows

Fly the A320neo like you know why.

Right Seat Coach runs beside the sim and teaches the A320neo flow by flow. It ticks off each step it sees done in your cockpit, and tells you why.

How it works

You fly. The coach monitors.

Airline crews split the work. The pilot flying handles the aircraft; the pilot monitoring reads, checks and calls out. Right Seat Coach takes the monitoring seat, so you can learn the flows on your own. The procedures follow airline practice, simplified for one pilot.

  • 80 steps in three lessons
  • 45 checked from the sim
  • 22 you confirm with Done
  • 13 briefings on a system
Who does what: you as pilot flying, the coach as pilot monitoring

A step only counts when the aircraft agrees.

The coach talks to the sim through SimConnect, Microsoft's interface for add-ons. A step with a check ticks off only when the condition has held for a full second. If the sim doesn't show something you've done, you can confirm the step yourself after 20 seconds.

    • Gear UP

    called when vertical speed > 300 ft/min

The reason is the lesson.

Finding a wrong setting at the holding point is far better than finding it at a hundred knots.

LESSON 2 · STEP 12 · T.O CONFIG

If it is not stable here, you go around and try again. A go-around is never a failure.

LESSON 3 · STEP 19 · STABILIZED AT 1,000 FT

Each of the 80 steps carries its reason, written to be spoken. Thirteen briefings explain a system before you touch it: the electrical system in thirty seconds, how an Airbus starts its engines, what the sidestick really does, and the two invisible beams of the ILS.

Know a flow already? Switch Explain off and the coach just says the step.

The flight

One real flight, Heathrow to Manchester, in three lessons.

From cold and dark at a Heathrow stand to the runway at Manchester: RSC101, about forty minutes in the air. Built on the published UK procedures: the UMLAT 1F departure off 27R, the ELVOS 1M arrival and the ILS to 23R.

Cold and dark to engine start

Power up the aircraft at a Heathrow stand, start the APU, prepare the flight to Manchester and start both engines — and understand what each system does.

Starts At a stand at London Heathrow, cold and dark, parking brake set.

    Taxi, takeoff and climb

Configure for take-off at Heathrow, taxi out, take off from 27R with flex thrust and climb to flight level one hundred on the autopilot — and understand how the Airbus flies.

Starts At Heathrow, both engines running, MCDU prepared for runway 27R and the UMLAT 1F departure, parking brake set.

  3. LESSON 3 · 23 STEPS · 3 BRIEFINGS

    ILS approach and landing

Prepare the approach into Manchester, fly the ILS to runway 23R on the autopilot, take over for the landing and stop on the runway — and understand what guides you down.

Starts Descending towards Manchester with AP1 engaged on the ELVOS 1M arrival, ILS 23R in the MCDU, below 10,000 ft.

In the cockpit

Everything a good right seat does, except fly.

  • Show me

Can't find it? Show me turns the sim's cockpit camera to the control for the step you're on.

  • Callouts

On cue, like a pilot monitoring: the calls the aircraft doesn't make itself.

“One hundred knots” · “Positive climb” · “Seventy knots”

  • Undone? It tells you

Fifteen settings have to stay set once their step is done, like the APU bleed, the beacon and the take-off flaps. Switch one off and the coach says so.

“Caution. APU bleed is off again. The engines need it to start.”

  • Beside the sim

The coach's page sits next to the sim, on the same screen or a second one.

The instructor · subscription

Ask out loud. It knows which switch you're on.

Hold your push-to-talk button and ask. The instructor is an AI voice that knows the lesson, the step you're on and the values the coach reads from the sim, so the answer is about your cockpit, not a manual. It can point the camera at a control, and it moves the lesson on when you're ready.

Example conversation, written for this page
  • Why do we start the APU before the engines?
  • The engines are started with compressed air. On the ground, the APU is what gives you that air, and it powers the aircraft while you prepare.
  • Is it ready?
  • APU speed is ninety-six percent, so yes, it's running. Next we align the ADIRS.

Needs a subscription and a microphone. Minutes count the real length of each conversation. The lessons stay free.

Flight recorder and debrief

The coach will record the whole flight and, after landing, show what it measured: taxi speed, rotation, how firmly you touched down, whether the approach was stable at 1,000 ft. Measured numbers first. Where we can't source a limit, we won't grade you against one.

FAQ

Questions

Can I get it yet?

Not yet. Next, every lesson is flown through in the sim, step by step, before the Windows app comes out. There is no date and no mailing list: the download appears on this page the day it's ready. Until then, you can read every step of lesson 1.

What do I need?

A Windows PC with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Right Seat Coach is a Windows app that runs next to the sim: Windows only, not Xbox or Mac.

Which A320?

The default Airbus A320neo in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Add-on A320s aren't supported yet.

What is free?

All lessons, with spoken steps, explanations, briefings and Show me. You don't need an account for them. Only the instructor you talk to needs a subscription.

Does it fly the aircraft for me?

No. It reads the aircraft and moves the camera when you ask. You fly, and you set every switch.

What if the coach doesn't see a switch I've set?

Then you can confirm the step yourself after 20 seconds, and the lesson carries on.

Is the instructor a person?

No. The instructor is an AI voice agent. The lesson lines are written in advance and spoken with an AI voice; every clip on this site is one of them.

Is this real flight training?

No. It's for simulation only: airline procedure simplified for one pilot in a simulator. It isn't approved training, and the procedures are not for real aircraft.

Do I need to be online?

For the recorded voice the first time a line plays, and for the instructor. Lines are kept once downloaded; without a connection, a missing line is read with the Windows voice.

How are instructor minutes counted?

By the real length of each conversation with the instructor. Your account page shows the minutes you have left.

How do I sign in?

With your e-mail address. We send you a sign-in link; there is no password. In the app, Sign in opens this website and takes you back to the app when you are done.

Before launch, sign-in is open to invited testers only.

How do I cancel?

On your account page, choose Manage billing.
